Heritage — Pontus Alv and the European Indie Wave

Polar Skate Co. was founded in 2011 in Malmö, Sweden, by Pontus Alv — pro skater, filmer and brand founder in one. Alv came from the filmer side: his video "In Search of the Miraculous" (2010) is widely seen today as the launch moment of the modern European indie skate scene and led directly to Polar starting up the following year.

The DNA is European and consciously anti-formulaic: less US pro-model logic, more art and filmer-crew approach. Hand-drawn logos and deck graphics, abstract-art series, occasional homages to fine art and equally sharp parodies of pop culture. Unlike the big California brands, Polar isn't built for maximum output but for editorial drops and consistent brand language.
