PRIMITIVE
Primitive Skateboards — founded by Paul Rodriguez (P-Rod) in LA. Decks (Dirty P, Classic P), complete boards and apparel with hype-level traction. Known for anime and pop-culture collabs (Naruto, Dragon Ball Z, Marvel) and a heavy pro team around P-Rod, Tiago Lemos and Spencer Hamilton. Shipping in 1–2 working days.
Heritage — from Apparel Distributor to Skate Brand
Primitive started in 2014 in Los Angeles, originally as an apparel distributor centered on Paul Rodriguez. It became a full skate brand fairly quickly, with its own decks, hardware and apparel. The mix of skater authenticity (P-Rod is one of the most influential street skaters of his generation) and streetwear sensibility carved out a niche for Primitive in the modern skate market — closer to hype brands like Supreme or Palace than to classic skate labels.
The Primitive Pro Team
The lineup is a mix of street heavyweights and technical specialists:
- Paul Rodriguez (P-Rod) — founder, streetskating icon since the mid-2000s, multi-time X-Games winner
- Tiago Lemos — known for absurd pop and the highest hubba tricks of all time
- Spencer Hamilton — technical ledges, clean style
- Wade DesArmo — power skating, big gaps
- Heitor da Silva, JB Gillet — further pros with their own pro models
Which Primitive Decks and Apparel?
- Dirty P — the iconic logo deck. Various color-ways and sizes from 7.75" to 8.5".
- Classic P — clean logo deck with larger lettering. Daily-friendly.
- Pro models — dedicated series for P-Rod, Tiago Lemos, Spencer Hamilton and more team skaters.
- Anime / pop-culture collabs — seasonal drops with Naruto, Dragon Ball Z, Marvel and others. Highly sought-after, often quickly sold out.
- T-shirts and hoodies — streetwear-ready, often with the same graphics as the deck series.
- Complete boards — pre-assembled, a good option if you want brand identity instead of an anonymous complete setup.
Who Is Primitive For?
Rule of thumb: if you like skateboarding and streetwear in equal parts and want a brand that doesn't shy away from anime collabs and limited drops, Primitive is a good fit. If you're leaning more towards classic skate heritage or punk aesthetics, check Baker, Deathwish or Zero instead.
What Pairs Well with Primitive?
Primitive decks combine well with other modern brands. Full deck selection in Skateboard Decks, pre-assembled setups in Complete Boards, matching apparel in T-shirts.
FAQ
Which Primitive deck size?
Standard for adults: 7.75–8.25". Technical flatground focus (like P-Rod): 7.75–8.0". More stability and bigger skaters: 8.25"+.
Are the anime collabs limited?
Usually yes — the licenses run for a fixed period, many collabs sell out quickly and aren't restocked. If you want a piece, grab it early.
