Thunder Trucks
Thunder Trucks have been the go-to axles for skaters who want to ride low, turn fast, and lock into grinds since 1986. Built out of San Francisco under the Deluxe Distribution roof — same yard as Spitfire, Real, Anti Hero, and Krooked — Thunder has defined the low-profile truck standard for nearly four decades. The motto: "Worldwide Domination".
Heritage — Deluxe Distribution, Ermico, Made in SF
Thunder was founded in 1986 by Fausto Vitello and Brian Ware as the first brand under the Deluxe Distribution umbrella. Production runs to this day at Ermico Enterprises in San Francisco — the same factory that builds Independent. Where Indy chose stability and transition, Thunder went the other way from the start: lower profile, less leverage, faster pop. The pro team reads like a who-is-who of street skating — Mark Suciu, Ishod Wair, Daan van der Linden, Tyshawn Jones, and many more have all rolled Thunder.
Which Thunder model fits which skater?
Thunder runs a clear hierarchy from entry-level Polished to the Titanium flagship. Rule of thumb: the higher up the program, the lighter and pricier — geometry stays the same.
- Polished — the standard, solid axle and kingpin, indestructible daily-beater setup.
- Lights — hollow axle, noticeably lighter, same grind-friendly toughness.
- Hollow Lights — hollow axle plus hollow kingpin, the lightweight pick for technical flatground and flip tricks.
- Titanium Lights — titanium kingpin, lightest option, pro-level tuning.
- T-II — the remastered geometry with a 54 mm axle height, reinforced hanger ends, updated pivot cup, and new 90 DU tapered bushings. More stability with bigger wheels without losing the Thunder turn.
- Team Inverted — inverted kingpin so it never blocks crooked grinds; Mark Suciu pro model from the current drop.
- Hi — taller profile for larger wheels and cruiser setups.

FAQ
Are Thunder Trucks low or mid?
Thunder Standard, Lights, Hollow Lights, and T-II are all low-profile trucks. If you want a higher ride, look at Thunder Hi.
How do Thunder turn compared to Indy?
In practice: Thunder reacts faster and tips quicker, Indy stands more stable and carries more speed. Skaters living on flatground and ledges usually click with Thunder.
Do I need Thunder Lights or are Polished enough?
Polished are the daily-beaters — near impossible to kill. Lights shave weight, worth it for flip tricks. Hollow Lights and Titanium are pro tuning, not a requirement.
What is the T-II update?
T-II is the current generation with 54 mm axle height, reinforced hanger, and new tapered bushings — a touch more stability with bigger wheels, same sharp Thunder turn.
