Krooked Skateboards
Krooked Skateboards is the brand founded in 2002 by Mark "The Gonz" Gonzales under Deluxe Distribution in San Francisco — carried by Gonzales's unmistakable painting and cartoon aesthetic. Brand identity: crooked ("krooked") typography, childlike drawings, artist-driven, anti-perfectionist. One of the most influential skate brands of the post-2000s.
Heritage — The Gonz becomes a brand
Mark Gonzales (born 1968) is widely credited as the inventor of modern street skating — he was the first skater to grind handrails in 1986 and set the bar in skate films like "Video Days" (Blind, 1991) and "Real Life" (Real, 1996). In 2002 he launched Krooked as his own brand under Deluxe. Ever since, the brand has carried Gonzales's artist DNA — every Krooked graphic is in the Gonz style, often drawn by him personally.
