Real Skateboards
Real Skateboards is the brand founded in 1991 in San Francisco by Jim Thiebaud and Tommy Guerrero under Deluxe Distribution — carrying the iconic "Real" oval logo. One of the most heritage-loaded American skate brands, with a living pro-skater owner (Thiebaud) and a hand in shaping street-skating standards through the 90s and 2000s.
Heritage — born out of the Powell-Peralta breakup
As Powell-Peralta lost substance in the early 90s, Jim Thiebaud and Tommy Guerrero (both ex-Powell pros) founded Real Skateboards in 1991. The brand became part of the Deluxe Distribution universe in SF, which today also covers Spitfire, Anti Hero, Krooked and Thunder. Real's logo — the "Real" word inside a black oval — is one of the most recognizable skate logos in the world.
