éS

éS Footwear — Accel, SLB, Quattro and Swift. Skate shoes with an uncompromising performance focus, founded in 1995 under Sole Technology, brought back as éS Footwear in 2017. At Skateshop24 you'll find cupsole and vulcanized models for technical street skating, stairs and park. Shipping in 1–2 working days.
Heritage — from Sole Tech original to comeback brand
éS was founded in 1995 as a sister to Emerica and etnies under the Sole Technology umbrella. Clear focus from day one: technical skate shoes, less lifestyle than most of the other brands of that era. Through the late 90s and 2000s, éS was a must in any serious street skater's closet — Eric Koston, Tom Penny and Rodrigo TX rode for the team.
The brand was discontinued in 2012. In 2017 it came back as éS Footwear — new logo, new branding, a reactivated pro team. Tom Asta (Thrasher SOTY 2018), Kelly Hart (SOTY 2024) and Wade DesArmo carried the brand back into the skate mainstream. The comeback story is part of the brand's USP — éS is one of the few labels that returned stronger than they left.
Which éS Model for Which Skater?
- Accel — cupsole legend, first released in 1999, reissued multiple times. Robust, well-cushioned, iconic silhouette. For stairs, gaps and anything impact-heavy.
- Accel Slim / Accel OG — slimmer cuts of the classic, vulcanized or cupsole depending on the variant.
- Quattro — vulcanized sole, slim silhouette, ideal for board feel and technical tricks. Comparable to a Wino G6 or Lakai Griffin.
- SLB — pro line at SOTY level. Cupsole, robust, long lifespan even in heavy sessions.
- Swift — all-rounder with a vulc sole and clean profile. Daily-beater for flatground and cruising.
- Square Three — cupsole, mid-thick, focused on comfort.
Construction and Materials
éS goes with suede almost across the board — standard for skate shoes because it tears through griptape much slower than canvas. Cupsole models use Sole Tech in-house foam cushioning; vulcanized models bring the thin, flexible sole profile for board feel. In practice that means less marketing, more skating.
What Pairs Well with éS?
Inside Sole Technology, Emerica is the closest relative — same quality standard, different style focus. éS riders often check out Lakai too. Full overview in Skate Shoes; matching apparel in T-shirts and Hoodies.
FAQ
What's the difference between Accel and Accel Slim?
The Accel is the classic, more voluminous 90s silhouette with a chunky cupsole. The Accel Slim is a slimmer, more modern cut — often available as vulcanized. Personal preference, both skate well.
Cupsole or vulcanized for éS?
Cupsole (Accel, SLB) for impact protection and longer lifespan on stairs. Vulcanized (Quattro, Swift) for board feel and technical tricks. Rule of thumb: bigger drops → cupsole, more flatground tech → vulc.
